Santorini

Three nights on Santorini gave us plenty of time to explore the beautiful island but I didn't want to leave - I could have easily spent the rest of my time there.

We stayed on the outskirts of Fira (by outskirts i mean a 10 minute stroll up into town) in the Milos Villas, run by Yannis and family who all made us feel very welcome. The villa was set next to two old windmills and a very inviting pool with views up to the town and down to the sea.

We explored Fira extensively and walked along the caldera from Fira to Imerovigli. We had great views from the top of Profitis Elias. We went to the Black Beach, the Red Beach and Kamari Beach (this one we liked the most and stayed an afternoon). Went to the mountain village of Pygros and had an afternoon in the picturesque town of Ia. We stayed in Ia until sunset, which was lovely, but both Ben and I preferred the view from Fira.

We did an organised boat trip to the volcano, hot springs (which was actually a nice temperature compared the to the sea water on that side of the island) walked up what felt like thousands of stairs for lunch on the Island of Thirassia, where we enjoyed great views of the caldera.
