Meteora Monasteries

After a long winding drive out of delphi and down through the many ski slopes, I manage to fall asleep while ben drives the boring hours along a perfectly straight highway. When I awake I am faced with huge rock pillars on the horizon and we're fast approaching Meteora.

We check into our room at the Odysseon Hotel in the town of Kalambaka and have a fantastic lunch at Taverna To Paramithi - I'd say the best meal on mainland greece. Really needing a nap after all that good food, we decide to drive up to Meteora as the day is running short. Meteora, is a handful of monasteries perched on top massive sandstone monoliths. It was after closing time but was an extraordinary site to see.

The following morning we went back up and had a look through the Moni Agias Triados (Holy Trinity Monastery). For all the 007 fans it was featured in the 1981 film For Your Eyes Only.

We then made the long drive back to Athens Airport for our flight back to London! yay!
