Sharm el Sheikh/Ras Mohammed National Park

Sharm el Sheikh is a major resort town and we were staying right in the heart of the tourist area - Naama Bay. It was 1st developed in the 80s and looks like is has been non stop since. Flying into Sharm was a wonderful site, spectacular jagged mountains gave way to sandy plains where hotel after hotel after hotel dotted the coast line.

Sharm was not our thing, our hotel was overrun by scarcely dressed Russians and Naama Bay was all too touristy. Thus we decided to do a day of snorkeling, as Sharm is renowned for it's colourful reefs.

After finally getting a nights sleep, we headed our early on Thursday to the Ras Mohammed National Park, on the southern tip of the Sinai peninsula. We boarded our boat, the Calipsum Sharm, and had the most relaxing day of snorkeling and sun. There was a fantastic variety of colourful fish and coral, and the water was so clear ... we didn't want to leave.
